Propulsion Engineer
The Propulsion Engineer develops Work Scopes for customer engines, dispositions engine hardware, and becomes a subject matter expert on jet propulsion for the CFM56, CF34-8, CF34-10, & PP20 engine programs. The propulsion engineer must provide a safe, high quality and cost-efficient engine for our customers, while working in conjunction with other areas in the Strother Field manufacturing environment.

This role is based at our Strother Field manufacturing site in Arkansas City, Kansas. As a Propulsion Engineer, you will develop work scopes for customer engines, disposition engine hardware, and serve as a subject matter expert on jet propulsion for the CFM56, CF34-8, CF34-10, and PP20 engine programs. This role is critical to ensuring safe, high-quality, and cost-efficient engines for our customers while collaborating with cross-functional teams in the Strother Field manufacturing environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop incoming engine work scopes that meet customer needs while adhering to contract requirements.
- Collaborate with quality and design engineers to ensure new processes achieve established metrics.
- Provide technical responses and recommendations to customers and internal business units.
- Support production schedules and quality initiatives within budget boundaries.
- Investigate hardware issues and work closely with design engineering to resolve them.
- Promote and build positive working relationships with all members of the site.
- Apply structured methodologies such as Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and five-why to identify and resolve issues.
The ideal candidate is a collaborative and analytical problem-solver with strong technical expertise in jet engine workscoping. They thrive in a fast-paced environment, demonstrate exceptional communication skills, and are committed to delivering high-quality results that drive customer satisfaction and operational excellence.
Required qualifications include:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited college or institution (strongly preferred).
- Experience in workscoping jet engines.
- Proficiency in computer skills and MS Office.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Six Sigma or equivalent quality training.
- Strong influencing and organizational skills.
- Effective problem identification and solution skills.
- Ability to analyze problems, identify root causes, and provide efficient solutions using structured methodologies.
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral, with operators, peers, and management.
- Leadership ability: collaborative, decisive, and a strong communicator.
- Experience working in a matrix organization.
Additional information includes:
- Scheduled weekly hours: 40 hours.
- Work shift: 1st Shift (United States of America).
- Must pass background checks and drug screenings.
- Physical requirements may include the ability to lift heavy equipment and work in varying environmental conditions.
