Job Details

• Prepare detailed cost estimates by reviewing plans, specifications, and performing quantity take-offs for select trades
• Evaluate design drawings and fully understand the scope of work for each bid
• Manage the end-to-end bidding process, from preparation through closeout
• Build and maintain relationships with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure coverage of all scopes of work
• Review and analyze subcontractor proposals for completeness, accuracy, and alignment with scope
• Present cost and budget information to clients and project teams
• Apply value engineering strategies to identify opportunities for cost savings
• Assess project risks and develop mitigation strategies
• Collaborate with project and construction managers to develop schedules
• Participate in contract negotiations to secure favorable terms
• Stay current with industry practices through ongoing professional development

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in substation or electrical utilities estimating (strongly preferred)
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Electrical Management, Engineering, Finance, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• Proven track record in high-voltage transmission line and substation erection projects
• Skilled in preparing accurate budgets, estimates, and competitive bids
• Proficiency in value engineering and cost analysis
• Strong knowledge of construction processes, materials, codes, and legal requirements
• Demonstrated risk assessment and mitigation skills
• Experience in scheduling, subcontracting, and supplier management
• Strong negotiation skills with a history of securing favorable terms
• Excellent communication skills to work effectively with vendors, clients, engineers, and contractors
• Experience with estimating software and related industry technology
