Program Manager (EHS - Environmental Health and Safety)

Location: Santa Rosa, CA

Duration: 6 Months, conversion to full-time later

Work Arrangement: 100% Onsite

This opportunity is for an on-site Programs Manager – Safety, Facilities, and OPEX located in Santa Rosa, California. This role is responsible for EHS and general safety at the site and program management support to continually drive improvements.

Responsibilities

• Monitor the workplace environment in the laboratory and office locations by analyzing work processes, materials, equipment, and employee work habits; ensure appropriate corrective action for hazards.
• Conduct and coordinate ergonomic risk assessments and make corrective action recommendations.
• Develop and oversee EHS training programs for employees (e.g., employee-right-to-know, ergonomics, hazardous material handling, emergency response, industrial hygiene, life safety).
• Perform EHS duties such as job safety analyses, health and safety training, incident investigations, safety inspections, PPE usage, and internal audits as directed.
• Coordinate employee exposure monitoring activities for chemical and physical agents.
• Support management and reporting of hazardous materials and hazardous waste activities, including collection, transportation, and disposal in compliance with regulations.
• Review new hazardous materials, check incoming material for SDS, usage and storage characteristics; provide guidance to end users on proper usage and disposal.
• Oversee site security and maintain compliance with local and company standards.
• Lead maintenance of the facility’s Emergency Response and Fire Plans and provide on-call support for EHS / Facilities emergencies.
• Update and maintain required documentation and records for environmental health and safety activities.
• Provide supervisory oversight for facilities management and maintenance vendors’ personnel; oversee facilities planning, space allocations, construction, modification, and maintenance.
• Provide project management support for OPEX-related projects, including tracking and reporting.
• Maintain positive and cooperative communications with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.

Qualifications

• B.S. Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
• Minimum of 3+ years of experience in the health and safety field with hands-on and program management experience.
• Experience in Environment, Health & Safety with knowledge of operational excellence and/or project management.
• Ability to navigate and interpret EHS regulations.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.
