PRN Certified Nursing Assistant - MedSurgical

Summary:
Join our team as a Certified Nursing Assistant and make a difference in patient care! In this role, you will work under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse or licensed Nurse to assist with essential patient care activities in a fast-paced nursing unit.

Responsibilities:

• Demonstrate leadership through OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
• Assist with patient admission, transfer, and discharge processes.
• Ensure accurate completion of relevant documentation.
• Prepare patient rooms for new admissions by setting up IV pots and adjusting beds to the required height.
• Safeguard that all patient belongings are transported to the appropriate unit or discharged home with the patient.
• Transport stable patients safely as needed.
• Maintain confidentiality and security while interacting with patients, families, and visitors.
• Manage equipment and supply inventory by cleaning, procuring, and returning items as necessary.
• Run errands for the nursing unit as required.
• Support licensed personnel in creating a safe and comfortable environment for patients, replenishing water, linen, and towels as appropriate.
• Perform specific patient care tasks in compliance with the skills checklist and document on the flowsheet.
• Monitor and identify changes in patient conditions and promptly report to the nurse in charge.
• Assist in the ordering and maintaining of stock items per established inventory procedures.
• Keep unit supplies organized and orderly.
• Act responsively during emergency situations.
• Communicate effectively with team members during shifts and ensure information transfer.
• Respond efficiently to phone calls and patient call lights.
• Adapt care methods to meet the diverse needs of patients, ensuring a personalized approach.
• Demonstrate competence in performing assigned patient care responsibilities catering to the specific developmental needs of our patients.

Job Requirements:

Education/Skills

• High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred.

Experience

• Experience in patient care within an acute care setting is preferred.

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

• CNA License in the state of employment is required.
• BLS certification is required.
