Principal Systems Engineer for Checkpoint Screening Products

Leidos is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer to support our ProVision checkpoint products, including next-generation developments. The ProVision is the world's leading personnel scanner, found in airports around the world.

JOB SUMMARY:

The successful applicant will play a crucial role in technical planning, system hardware-software-network design, development and integration, as well as verification and validation, and fielding. This position includes evaluating alternatives based on cost and risk, supportability analyses, and total systems evaluations.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Conduct comprehensive analysis on systems to document all functions and define interfaces for effective integration, testing, and quality assurance.
• Collaborate closely with product teams to clearly define product requirements and build systems that meet customer needs.
• Create a structured engineering roadmap for product-related tasks and activities.
• Coordinate effectively with engineering leads to ensure alignment and integration throughout the product development cycle.
• Provide innovative solutions based on system requirements and work with the team to tackle technical issues and updates.
• Mentor junior team members and guide them through design processes and procedures for updates.
• Act as a versatile team player responsible for the development and integration of current and future system builds.
• Define system baselines and versioning; initiate and conduct studies for system upgrades; manage change orders; and support testing and lifecycle activities necessary for system sustainability.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• BS degree in a related discipline (such as electrical engineering, physics, or systems engineering) with 12 - 15 years of relevant experience or a Master's degree with 10 - 13 years of experience. A Doctorate in a technical domain may also be considered.
• At least 5 years of practical experience as a HW Systems Design Engineer, ideally in the X-Ka RF bands.
• Must be a U.S. person.
• Experience in collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams, including leading technical teams and mentoring less experienced scientists.
• Demonstrated experience in designing, building, and testing hardware sensing products from concept to market delivery.
• Familiarity with spectrum allocation and FCC testing and requirements.
• Solid understanding of various RF system architectures.
• Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Willingness to travel to customer sites as required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience with synthetic aperture.
• Basic knowledge of Linux.

Pay Range: $126,100.00 - $227,950.00
