**AECOM ** is seeking a highly motivated Principal Geotechnical/Civil Engineer to support mine tailings and heavy mine tailings infrastructure as part of the Mining group in Denver, Colorado, Phoenix, Arizona, or Salt Lake City, Utah. 

Job Summary/Responsibilities

  Provides project leadership in the areas of design, investigation, analysis, and construction of Tailings Dams and Mining projects.

• n

  Plans, directs, and supervises all operations included in a mid- to large, complex project or several moderately sized projects with greater risk and complexity, and moderate financial impact.

  Serve as the Engineer-of-Record for an inactive tailings storage facility.

  n
n
• n

  Preparing and presenting technical presentations to project team, clients, regulators, and technical review boards.

  n
n
• n

  Supervise preparation of technical reports, dam safety inspections, and potential failure mode analyses.

  n
n
• n

  Participating in potential failure mode analyses and risk analyses for tailings facilities, including identifying and developing potential failure modes, and serving as subject matter expert in risk analysis workshops.

  Develop project proposals and work with mining business leader to support and grow Mining practice

  n

• n

  Provide direction to and mentoring to other technical staff in completing project tasks

  n

• n

  Performs independent technical reviews of engineering reports and design and signs off on work

  n
n
• n

  May be responsible for Project teams that include 5 or more members often representing multiple disciplines including subcontractor(s)

• n

  Provide advice and consultation to client on engineering matters, including compliance with government laws and regulations

  n
n
• n

  Provide direction to and mentoring to senior and mid-level staff

  n
n

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

n
• n

  Bachelor's degree and 10+ years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  n
n
• n

  Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain one within 6 months

  n
n
• n

  Valid U.S Driver’s License

  n
n

Preferred Qualifications

n
• n

  Master’s OR PhD in Geotechnical engineering, Civil engineering or related field of study

  n
n
• n

  20+ years or more of relevant experience

  n
n
• n

  Experience in dam design and evaluation

  n
n
• n

  Familiarity with design reports, drawings, and specifications

  n
n
• n

  Experience leading tasks with effective delegation skills

  n
n
• n

  Experience with GeoStudio (SEEP/W and SLOPE/W), UTEXAS4, Grapher, FLAC/FLAC3D and AutoCAD

  n
n
• n

  Experience with review and use of PSHA analyses

  n
n
• n

  Experience working on risk analysis projects

  n
n
• n

  Business development for new and existing clients, prepare engineering services proposals, cost estimates, and schedules.

  n
n
• n

  Must be a resourceful, highly organized professional with attention to people and detail

  n
n
• n

  Strong commitment to performing projects in a safe manner

  n
