nPosition Summary:
nWe have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Physician Assistant - Part Time - OB/GYN.
In this role, the successful candidate will provide care to patients in the Department and in the subspecialties as needed. The Physician Assistant will follow established standards, procedures, and practices, and give specific patient care directions to nursing and other staff.
nJob Responsibilities:
n* Provide direct care to individuals and families consistent with the philosophy of Lutheran Medical Center and the departmental/institutional goals. This includes the provision of safety, well being of patients and visitors and maintenance of patient rights and confidentiality.n* Practices within the scope of delineated privilegesn* Participate in activities fostering professional growth and maintenance of certification.n* Direct, instruct and evaluate activities of P.A. and medical students as appropriate.n* Be on call during non-working hours to assist attendings in urgent or emergent situations/procedures.n* Attend all scheduled departmental meetings/conferences.n* Participate in committees as appropriaten* Participate in activities relating to Quality Improvement as needed.n* Provide preventive health services including counseling and teaching in Health Maintenance and problem related areas.n* Collaboratively work with other healthcare professionals and families of patients in the physical and emotional transitions of admissions, care and discharge.n* Participates in rounds with the attending staff and/or the housestaff on assigned patients.n* Perform emergency life saving procedures in the absence of a physician.n* Evaluation and management of critical care patients.n* Maintain required unit records, report and statistics necessary for administrative purpose and reimbursement, including discharge summaries.n* Documentation of all patient encounters including: Patient assessment and progress notes Treatment rendered Patient teaching Follow-up Referraln* Provide diagnostic and assessment services to patients in the Department of Surgery, utilizing a problem solving approach: Obtain a detailed history and perform physical examinations on patients in the Department of Surgery and/or on assigned patients. Take into consideration the age, growth and developmental stage of the patient when assessment, treatment and/or care is being rendered. Write appropriate orders, including those for narcotics, stimulants and depressant drugs after consulting with a physician. Implement a therapeutic regime or protocol appropriate for the diagnosis in accordance with institutional protocols and after consultation with the attending physician. Monitor the patient's response to therapeutic regime. Notify the attending physician of changes in the patient's condition. Consultation of Specialists and/or Medical preceptor for complex patient care situations.nnMinimum Qualifications:
nTo qualify you must have a Bachelors or masters degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program. 0-1 years relevant experience. Currently Licensed as a Physician Assistant in the State of New York. BLS and ACLS required upon hire. DEA Certificate required..

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $62.51 - $82.20 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- n
- Completion of recognized Nurse Assistant certification program n
- Minimum of one-year direct patient care experience in an institutional, hospice or home care setting n
- Skilled in the proper technique for lifting and transferring patients n
- Ability to read, write and follow instructions and document care given n
- Understands Hospice philosophy and needs of terminally ill n
- Compliance with accepted professional standards and practices n
- Demonstrates tact, patience and good personal hygiene n
- Excellent observation and communication skills n
- Ability to work within an interdisciplinary setting n
- Sufficient documentation of having passed a skills test and written/oral test demonstrating those competencies identified in OBRA-87, 42 C.F.R. Sections 484.36 and 484.4. In lieu of such documentation, a newly hired HHA must demonstrate skills and written/oral competency prior to working independently with a patient n
