Assistant Professor In The Clinical Track

West Virginia University, Department of Pediatrics, Division of Infectious Diseases at West Virginia University School of Medicine is seeking applicants for a faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in the clinical track at the Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center in Morgantown, WV. In addition to providing excellent patient care, the successful candidate will be actively involved in teaching medical students, Pediatric residents and internal medicine ID fellows. Opportunities exist to participate in clinical and translational research.

Successful candidates must have an MD, MD/PhD or DO degree (the employer accepts foreign educational equivalent) and be eligible to obtain a state medical license. Candidates must have completed an accredited pediatric or pediatric/internal medicine residency program and hold American Board of Pediatrics certification. Subsequent Pediatric subspecialty certification will be an expectation.

The Pediatric Infectious Diseases division has three full time faculty. The clinical responsibilities include a very active in-patient and ambulatory care program including outreach. The division is responsible for Antibiotic Stewardship and Infection Prevention in WVU Medicine Childrens Hospital; opportunities exist to participate in WVUs Global Health and Tropical Medicine.

Our new 150 bed Childrens Hospital has a full suite of pediatric operating rooms, cardiac catheterization lab/interventional radiology, and GI-endoscopy with dedicated pediatric anesthesia staff. The hospital includes 34 pediatric beds, 54 NICU beds, 26 PICU beds, Heart Center, and a dedicated Cancer Center. WVU Medicine Childrens is a Level 2 Pediatric Trauma Center, with plans to become Level 1, as it is for adults currently. There is also a Birthing Center including a 30-bed obstetrical unit and maternal-fetal medicine clinic. J. W. Ruby Memorial Hospital is the only hospital in West Virginia with a pediatric cardiac surgery program, the only epilepsy monitoring unit in the state equipped to serve children, and the only hospital in the state to receive Magnet status for nursing excellence.

The West Virginia University Health System is West Virginias largest health system and the states largest employer. The System has undergone significant expansion in specialty and sub-specialty care in areas such as cancer, heart and vascular, and neuroscience, among many others. The Health System operates West Virginias first and only multi-organ transplant center, and opened a new, 150-bed Childrens Hospital in September 2022.
