Locum Tenens Opportunity: General Medicine Physician Near Columbus, MS

We are seeking a General Medicine Physician to perform Compensation & Pension (C&P) exams and Separation Health Assessments for veterans near Columbus, MS. The need is ongoing, and physicians with backgrounds in family medicine, internal medicine, orthopedic surgery, or general medicine are encouraged to apply. Position Overview:

• Position Type: Locum Tenens, PRN basis
• Specialty: General Medicine

• End Date: Ongoing
• Shift Type: Days (flexible hours)

Responsibilities:

• Perform Compensation & Pension (C&P) Exams:
  • Conduct one-time, non-treatment exams and separation health assessments for veterans.
  • Exams are primarily interview-based , supplemented by physical assessments such as range of motion testing and muscle strength evaluations.
  • No treatment or prescribing required.
• Coverage Options:
  • Option 1: Travel to a designated leased facility to conduct exams.
  • Option 2: Schedule and perform exams within your own practice.
  • Choose between half-days (4-hour shifts) or full-days (8-hour shifts) based on your availability.

Qualifications:

• Board Certified in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Orthopedic Surgery, or a related field.
• Proficiency in:
  • Musculoskeletal conditions, diabetes, and cardiovascular health.
  • METs testing and diagnosis of respiratory, cardiovascular, and neurological conditions.
  • Experience with goniometer use for physical assessments.
• Certification Requirements:
  • Board Certified physician.
  • Active and unrestricted license to practice in Mississippi.
  • Willingness to complete DMA certification (CME credits available). Note that DMA certification costs and training are not reimbursed.
