Overview

Phlebotomist, Laboratory - Support, Part Time, 4A-12:30P role at Baptist Health .

Performs phlebotomy in accordance with established National Patient Safety Goals and Baptist Health published protocols. Receives specimens into the Laboratory Information System (LIS) accurately and timely, labels, transports, centrifuges, and aliquots specimens. Distributes specimens to testing sections in accordance with collection priority (STAT over Routine). Faxes and distributes results as appropriate. Maintains knowledge of and deploys policies and procedures used within the department and hospital to address patient questions and concerns. Estimated pay range for this position is $17.02 - $22.13 / hour depending on experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform phlebotomy and specimen processing according to department protocols.
• Receive, label, transport, centrifuge, and aliquot specimens; ensure accurate LIS entry.
• Distribute results and handle prioritization of specimens (STAT vs Routine).
• Address patient questions and concerns by applying department and hospital policies.

Qualifications

• High School, Cert, GED, Trn, Exper. (as applicable).

Additional Qualifications

• Preferred: Phlebotomy or Registered Medical Assistant certificate; hospital experience including pediatric, geriatric, oncology, and neonate patients.
• Computer skills, specimen processing, excellent interpersonal communication (verbal and written), and strong customer service.
• Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
