Position Summary:

• Collects and processes blood specimens for testing in the laboratory.
• Fills in as needed in the department.
• Functions as one of the department's primary contacts with patients.
• Assists with clerical duties.

Essential Functions:

Performs phlebotomies.

Performs laboratory Information System functions.

Maintains a clean work area and proper stock on supplies. Applies knowledge of age-related factors appropriately to patients, utilizing appropriate policies and procedures. Performs clerical duties.

Minimum Education
High school diploma or equivalent - Required.

Minimum Education
Completion of a Phlebotomy course or equivalent training/experience or National Health career Association. Phlebotomy certification preferred.

Required Skills
Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS) - to be obtained within 30 days.

Required Skills
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Required Skills
Formal phlebotomy training preferred.
