We are excited to announce openings for a Per Diem Nursing Assistant I to support our Inpatient Psychiatry Units. If you have a passion for helping adolescents and children in a behavioral health environment, we want to hear from you!

Position Details:

• Shift: Rotating
• Hours: Per Diem; 6 hrs/wk
• Entity: UNC Medical Center
• Location: Butner, NC

Our inpatient unit focuses on providing care for adolescents aged 12 to 15 in need of crisis stabilization. The goal is to assist these young individuals through acute psychiatric stabilization techniques while engaging their support systems for ongoing care.

In our 54-bed facility, you will work alongside a multidisciplinary team, including psychiatrists, psychologists, and nursing staff, to create a safe and nurturing environment for our patients. We prioritize safety, coping skills development, and positive recreational activities.

This Per Diem position requires flexibility in working hours, with a commitment of 12 hours every two weeks, including day and night shifts, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities Include:

1. Supporting healthcare providers during examinations and procedures.
2. Engaging with patients to facilitate reality orientation and assist in behavior modification plans.
3. Observing and documenting changes in patients' conditions.
4. Assisting families during admission and discharge processes.
5. Providing direct personal care and assistance with daily living activities.
6. Maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
7. Reinforcing educational material provided to patients.

Qualifications:

• High School diploma or GED
• Must be listed as Nursing Assistant I with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services
• CPR or Basic Life Support certification required
• Six months of nursing assistant experience preferred
• Ability to communicate effectively in English and basic computer skills

Additional Information:
