Job Title: Advanced Emergency Technician (AEMT)

Department: Emergency Medical Services

Hours Per Week: As needed (Per Diem)

Schedule: 12-hour variable shifts; weekends and holidays

SUMMARY:

Join our team as an Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT), where you will provide immediate basic and advanced medical care and transport patients during emergencies. You will play a critical role in stabilizing patients and ensuring their safe transfer to medical facilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Respond to emergency calls, assess patients' conditions, and determine appropriate medical interventions.
• Transport patients safely to medical facilities while monitoring their condition and providing necessary care.
• Administer life-saving measures like CPR, control bleeding, manage airways, and stabilize patients within the Scope of Practice recognized by NYS.
• Utilize essential medical equipment, including defibrillators and oxygen delivery systems.
• Collaborate closely with paramedics, firefighters, law enforcement, and hospital staff to ensure coordinated patient care.
• Maintain accurate and detailed patient care reports documenting assessments, treatments, and responses.
• Ensure the cleanliness and readiness of emergency vehicles and medical equipment.
• Interpret instructions, including calculating weight and volume ratios.
• Lift and move patients in various challenging environments.
• Participate in continuous education to enhance your skills and stay current with protocols.
• Maintain professionalism and composure in high-pressure situations.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

• Work in diverse environments, including potentially hazardous conditions.
• Maintain physical readiness to assist in lifting/moving patients.
• Walk, kneel, crawl, and climb in emergency conditions.
• Transport essential medical equipment without assistance.
• Remain calm and focused in emotionally charged situations.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• AHA BLS for Healthcare Provider certification.
• Valid NYS AEMT certification.
• Valid NYS Driver's License.
• Ability to exert 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds frequently.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma (or equivalent).
• Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (EVOC) certification.
• Strong knowledge of medical procedures and emergency care techniques.

PAY RANGE:

$19.50 - $25.00
