Essential Functions of the Pediatric Child Life Specialist:

• Assess patients to determine their psychosocial, financial, and environmental needs.
• Conduct initial and follow-up evaluations of patient's Child Life needs.
• Communicate significant findings and changes in patient condition to relevant team members.
• Report and address unsafe conditions promptly.
• Implement safety plans and utilize community resources for patient care.
• Develop and contribute to the Plan of Care alongside the clinical team.
• Verify and follow the Plan of Care based on physician's orders.
• Document patient care goals and interventions in clinical notes.
• Provide skilled interventions as required by the care plan.
• Involve patients and families in the care planning process.
• Ensure continuity of patient care and coordinate updates among the clinical team.
• Participate in patient care conferences and share clinical suggestions.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and CCLS certification from the Child Life Council.
• Licensure: Current CCLS certification is required.
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years as a Child Life Specialist in a healthcare setting.
• Requirements: Reliable transportation and ability to perform physical tasks including lifting.
