The Patient Referral Specialist is a vital role within our organization, focusing on customer service and patient care. You will work closely with our patients, their families, insurance representatives, and healthcare providers to ensure a seamless referral process. This role operates in a dynamic and professional environment, promoting the highest standards of healthcare delivery.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Coordinate and process patient referrals accurately and efficiently.
• Prioritize patients in our care and expedite orders as necessary.
• Schedule appointments with preferred specialists and communicate details to patients.
• Utilize online resources for authorization processing (e.g., Availity, Careplus).
• Document the referral process, including appointment notifications and confirmations.
• Participate in daily team huddles to address any outstanding patient needs.
• Manage patient follow-ups for missed appointments, ensuring rescheduling occurs.
• Provide exceptional customer service to all stakeholders.
• Perform additional related duties as necessary.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Familiarity with medical terminology and coding (CPT, HCPCS, ICD) is desired.
• Detail-oriented with strong multitasking ability.
• Strong phone manners and proficiency with computer software.
• Team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
• Outstanding organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Willingness to travel locally (up to 10%).
• Fluency in English; bilingual skills are a plus.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE CRITERIA:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• At least 1 year of referral experience in a healthcare setting required.
• Experience with web-based insurance tools and obtaining referrals preferred.
• Healthcare experience with Medicare Advantage populations is a plus.
• Medical Assistant certification preferred.
• CPR certification for Healthcare Providers is preferred.

PAY RANGE:

$16.50 - $23.56 Hourly
