Patient Care Technician

Overview:

The Patient Care Technician plays a vital role in supporting the healthcare team by closely monitoring and documenting patient conditions. Under the guidance of Registered Nurses, this position focuses on facilitating patient care through mobility assistance and daily living support.

Responsibilities:

• Provide essential support to patients with activities of daily living, including meal assistance, personal care, and promoting mobility to foster recovery.
• Evaluate patients' quality of life concerning nutrition, hydration, and bodily functions to anticipate and meet their needs.
• Manage patient admissions, transfers, and discharges to ensure smooth transitions aligned with care plans.
• Assist in clinical procedures such as monitoring vital signs, blood glucose levels, performing EKGs, applying restraints, and meeting elimination needs for patient comfort.
• Maintain inventory of medical supplies and equipment to uphold a safe and hygienic environment in compliance with National Patient Safety Goals.
• Ensure that patients at risk of falls are properly identified with arm bands, signage, and safety socks for their protection.
• Thoroughly document clinical procedures, patient interactions, and medication use to uphold comprehensive patient records.
• Respond promptly to instruction from nursing staff and actively communicate patient observations to enhance teamwork and care coordination.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support the unit's operations.

Education:
Required: High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience:
Required: None

Licensure/Certification:
Required: Certification per state regulations. Nurse Aide Certification required. BLS (CPR) certification from American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
