Duties:

Prepare and prosecute patent applications related to software and digital technologies

Advise clients on patent strategy and portfolio management

Analyze invention disclosures and collaborate with inventors to determine patentability

Conduct interviews with USPTO examiners and respond to office actions

Stay updated on trends in patent law and software-related IP

Collaborate with attorneys across other IP and technology-related disciplines

Requirements:

Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in patent prosecution

USPTO Registration required

Demonstrated understanding of software technologies, including cloud infrastructure, encryption, mobile applications, databases, AI, and bioinformatics

Strong organizational and time management skills

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

Ability to work independently and handle a steady workflow with minimal supervision

Education:

Bachelor's or advanced degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a closely aligned discipline

Certifications:

Must hold active registration with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)

Admission to the California or Washington Bar is strongly preferred

Skills:

Technically fluent in software-related subject matter

Detail-oriented approach to patent drafting and prosecution

Ability to deliver concise legal writing and responsive client communication

Familiarity with IP strategy in startup and tech-heavy environments is a plus
