Hours Per Week: Part time (with opportunity to work more)

Schedule: 12-hour variable shifts; weekends and holidays

SUMMARY:

The Emergency Medical Technician plays a crucial role in delivering high-quality emergency medical care in pre-hospital settings. This position involves responding to dispatch calls, assessing patient conditions, administering life-saving interventions, and ensuring safe transportation to medical facilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Respond to emergency calls, assess patients' conditions, and determine appropriate medical interventions while coordinating with dispatch.
• Safely transport patients to medical facilities, monitoring their condition and administering care during transit.
• Provide advanced life support (ALS), including airway management, intravenous therapy, defibrillation, and medication administration.
• Communicate effectively with emergency dispatchers, firefighters, law enforcement, and healthcare professionals.
• Document detailed patient care reports, including assessments, treatments, and patient responses.
• Maintain cleanliness and readiness of emergency vehicles and medical equipment.
• Educate and reassure patients and their families during crises.
• Adhere to all legal, ethical, and safety protocols.
• Interpret written and diagnostic instructions and perform necessary calculations.
• Lif and transport patients, often in challenging environments.
• Participate in ongoing education to stay updated with medical protocols.
• Maintain composure and professionalism in high-pressure situations.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

• Work in various uncontrolled and potentially hazardous environments.
• Maintain physical readiness for lifting/moving patients and equipment.
• Ability to walk, kneel, crawl, and climb in emergency conditions.
• Transport essential medical equipment independently.
• Remain calm in high-stress situations.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Current NYS Licensed Paramedic
• AHA BLS Certification
• ACLS Certification
• PALS Certification
• NYS Driver's License
• Ability to exert 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally as required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 3 years of experience in 911 and inter-facility transport
• Experience with critical care transport

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Heavy Work - Exerting significant force occasionally and performing constant walking, standing, or squatting.

PAY RANGE: $27.50 - $33.00

The listed base pay range represents potential base pay for a successful application. Pay may be adjusted based on experience, qualifications, and other factors.
