Emergency Services Paramedic

The Emergency Services Paramedic is primarily responsible for collaborating with the Charge Nurse and/or primary nurse to deliver expeditious patient care as assigned throughout the department. The paramedic assists the primary nurse to implement physician orders for our patient population while practicing within the scope of his/her licensure. The paramedic provides a safe and supportive environment for all patients, families, and coworkers.

The value you'll bring to the team:

• Assists and coordinates the immediate off-load of patients arriving via EMS with the primary nurse and/or charge nurse.
• Participates in the assessment, evaluation and effectiveness of the plan of care on an ongoing basis.
• Promptly notifies the physician and/or primary nurse of untoward changes in a patient's condition.
• Monitors cardiac/telemetry status and vital functions of all patients.
• Recognizes hemodynamic changes and lethal arrhythmias.
• Establishes and maintains patency of peripheral intravenous lines.

The expertise and experiences you'll need to succeed:

Minimum qualifications:

• High school diploma or Associates of Science (AS) degree.
• One year healthcare or field experience.
• Current Paramedic License with the State of Florida Department of Health.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

Preferred qualifications:

• Associates of Science (AS) degree.
• One year patient care or field experience.
• National certification in areas of practice.
• Member of National Professional Organization.
