Obstetrics & Gynecology Physician

Sumo Medical Staffing is recruiting for an experienced Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospitalist/Physician to work locum shifts in Abingdon, Virginia (VA). Starting in 2025, the role offers ongoing work with a competitive market rate and benefits.

The Obstetrics and Gynecology role:

• OBGYN locum role - minimum of 4 shifts per month/24-hour shifts, providing GYN coverage for emergent cases.
• NICU Level II; no requirement to perform circumcisions.
• Estimated deliveries: 425 annually (approx. 35 per month).
• Supported by 24/7 MFM via tele-consults and on-call anesthesia during nights/weekends.
• Robotics available; GE Corometrics fetal monitoring system.
• EMR: Epic (hospital and clinic).
• Facility includes 5 L&D NPs and a new FP/OB starting summer 2025.
• Family Medicine Residency program at Johnston Memorial Hospital.
• Hospital is part of Ballad Health.
• Backup available from 1 other local OB, ED, and General Surgery 24/7 for extreme cases.

Requirements of the Obstetrics and Gynecology role:

• VA state license; active, unrestricted.
• Board certified OBGYN.
• VA State DEA.
• BLS, ACLS, NRP.
• 100 deliveries in past 24 months (no assisted, but performed).
• 25 GYN cases in the last 12 months.
