Nutrition Technician (PRN | As Needed)

The Nutrition Technician will be responsible for the accurate preparation, translation, and delivery of special formulas, supplements, and trays according to department policies and procedures. They will maintain patient Food and Nutrition records, kardex, and logs to ensure order accuracy using current information technology, and serve as the source of current patient diet order status. The technician will answer patient foodservice phones and document all requests.

Minimum Education

High School Diploma or GED (Required)
A.A. (Preferred)

Minimum Work Experience

3 years related healthcare or foodservice experience (Required)

Required Skills/Knowledge

• Basic calculations (addition, subtraction, division, multiplication)
• Ability to translate written instructions and numeric formulas into special diet products and/or infant formulas
• Ability to accurately measure micro and macro levels of special products using scales and other measuring tools
• Proficiency in basic information technology data entry and printing functions

Nutrition Service

• Receive and maintain accurate and current orders for patient meals or formulas using CNMC information systems
• Prepare, review, and correct patient menus, adhering to principles of special diets
• Prepare and deliver infant formula and special supplements according to RD-approved formulas and department standards
• Maintain patient information in kardex, logbook, and IT systems, seeking clarification when needed
• Inventory special food items, menus, and related resources; communicate needs to supervisors

Productivity

• Enter data on stock and nourishment usage; generate reports accurately and timely
• Contribute data for Performance Improvement processes

Safety and Sanitation

• Comply with safety and sanitation standards per regulations
• Maintain the safety and cleanliness of meal delivery systems according to HACCP standards

Office Support

• Answer department phones and log information; respond to voicemails as per guidelines
