Summary:

As a vital member of our healthcare team, the Nursing Assistant plays an essential role in providing excellent patient care under the direct supervision of Registered Nurses and licensed Nurses. You will assist with routine patient care activities and contribute to a supportive and compassionate environment that enhances patient comfort.

Responsibilities:

• Exhibit the core competencies of OneCHRISTUS: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
• Support the admission, transfer, and discharge processes for patients.
• Complete required documentation accurately.
• Prepare patient rooms for admission by setting up IV pots and adjusting beds as needed.
• Ensure that all patient belongings are accounted for during transfers and discharges.
• Safely transport stable patients when necessary.
• Maintain confidentiality and security during patient transport and interaction with families and visitors.
• Procure, clean, and return medical equipment and supplies efficiently.
• Run necessary errands for the nursing unit.
• Assist licensed personnel in creating a safe and comfortable environment by replenishing patient rooms with essentials.
• Execute unit-specific patient care tasks as outlined in the skills checklist and document them accurately.
• Observe and report any noticeable changes in a patient’s condition to the nurse in charge promptly.
• Help manage stock levels and organize unit supplies systematically.
• Respond effectively to emergency situations.
• Communicate clearly with team members during and between shifts.
• Respond to phone calls and patient call lights in a timely manner.
• Adapt patient assessment and care methods to meet the varied needs of each individual.
• Demonstrate proficiency in performing patient care responsibilities in line with developmental and population-specific needs.

Job Requirements:

Education/Skills

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

Experience

• Preferred experience in patient care within an acute care setting.

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

• CNA License in the state of employment is required.
• BLS certification is required.
