Requirements: All candidates must be currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program, have completed the fundamentals of nursing class and their first clinical rotation. Graduation must be within 18 months to qualify.

Flexible Scheduling: As a Nurse Intern, you commit to a minimum of 24 hours over four weeks. We understand your education is a priority, and offer flexible scheduling to accommodate your class times.

Compensation: $18.00/hour

The Nurse Intern program delivers practical, real-world clinical training across various hospital units, guided by experienced nursing mentors.

Job Summary: You will assist in delivering nursing care services under supervision, collaborating with healthcare professionals to support patient needs. This role serves as a stepping stone to a graduate nurse position in our Graduate Nurse Residency program upon your eligibility.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Carry out patient care tasks as directed by a registered nurse (RN).
• Monitor vital signs and observe patients to ensure quality care and safety.
• Support patients with daily living activities, enhancing their overall experience.
• Assist in various clinical procedures and maintain patient comfort.
• Communicate patient conditions and needs effectively to the nursing team.
• Prepare patients for discharge and assist during the transition.
• Maintain supplies and equipment to meet patient care needs efficiently.
• Contribute positively to team efforts and initiatives.
• Be an active participant in ensuring patient and staff safety.

Education: Current enrollment in an accredited nursing school and completion of initial clinical rotation.

Experience: No prior experience required; we value your eagerness to learn!

Physical Requirements: Must be able to perform tasks requiring standing, walking, lifting, and regular communication.

Required Certification: Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) from the American Heart Association.

Location: SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital - Lake Saint Louis. This is a PRN/Per Diem position, offering you the flexibility to manage your schedule.
