New Graduate - Assistant Store Manager

Overview

We are looking to develop the next generation of retail leadership at Sprouts Farmers Market - a Fortune 500 company and one of the fastest growing retailers in the United States. This program focuses on developing Assistant Store Managers (ASMs), who are key in assisting with the efficient and profitable operations of the store. In the absence of the Store Manager, the Assistant Store Manager assumes complete responsibility for all phases of store operations.

Program Details

• Program Start Date: January 2026 & June 2026
• Hiring locations: Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, New Jersey, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Texas, Tennessee, Utah & Virgina (actual store locations to be determined)
• Eligibility: You are within 6 months of graduation from a full-time bachelor’s or master’s degree program
• Graduation requirements:
  • January class graduation requirement: May 2025 – December 2025
  • June class graduation requirement: December 2025 – May 2026
• Onboarding process: 10 weeks of in-store leadership and department specific training followed by 10 weeks of on-the-job shadowing

Overview Of Responsibilities

The Assistant Store Manager must be familiar with all departments and department-related activities throughout the store, and assists the Store Manager in ensuring cleanliness, safety and a well-stocked inventory. The ASM assists with forecasts, schedules, and monitors labor to be consistent with store sales and productivity guidelines and wage budgets; and creates action plans to address cost control issues. This role directs, oversees, and evaluates the training of all perishable department Team Members to reduce turnover, promote efficient operations, and maintain labor costs. Developing and maintaining communication with other departments and the Store Manager is key to executing merchandising plans that help meet the store’s financial objectives.

Qualifications

To be a Sprouts University Program Assistant Store Manager you must:

• Obtain or be in pursuit of a Bachelor's Degree (targeting May 2025 through May 2026 graduates)
• Have retail experience or project exposure to the retail industry
• Be dependable with a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends and holidays, and be open to changes in store assignments
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to give direction and work in a team
• Outgoing, friendly demeanor and positive attitude with the ability to engage customers
• Experience managing department staff: interviewing, hiring, training and development, performance appraisals, scheduling, counseling
• Proven leadership ability to build, motivate and maintain staff; working knowledge of personnel reports, margin reports, weekly sales numbers and financial goals
• Strong attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to coordinate promotions and prepare merchandise displays and advertising copy
• Responsibility for compliance with dates on perishable items and for pulling expired products per Sprouts procedures
• Ability to handle emergencies and incidents, with reporting and coordination as needed
• Maintain Food Safety certification and ensure compliance with federal, state, and company regulations for labor, health, safety and sanitation
• Strong organizational and planning skills; ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs., and to bend, reach, kneel, squat and stand for long periods
