New Graduate - Assistant Store Manager

Overview

We are looking to develop the next generation of retail leadership at Sprouts Farmers Market, a Fortune 500 company and a fast-growing retailer in the United States. This program focuses on Assistant Store Managers (ASMs), who are key to assisting with the efficient and profitable operations of the store. In the absence of the Store Manager, the Assistant Store Manager assumes complete responsibility for all phases of store operations.

Program Details

• Program Start Date: January 2026 and June 2026
• Hiring locations: Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, New Jersey, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Texas, Tennessee, Utah, and Virginia (actual store locations to be determined)
• Eligibility: You are within 6 months of graduation from a full-time bachelor’s or master’s degree program
• Graduation requirements: January class May 2025 – December 2025; June class December 2025 – May 2026
• Onboarding: 10 weeks of in-store leadership and department-specific training followed by 10 weeks of on-the-job shadowing

Overview Of Responsibilities

The Assistant Store Manager must be familiar with all store departments and related activities, ensure cleanliness and safety, maintain well-stocked inventory, assist with forecasts and scheduling, monitor labor against sales and productivity guidelines, and create action plans to address cost-control issues. This role directs and evaluates training for all perishable department team members to reduce turnover and improve efficiency and labor costs. Maintaining communication with other departments and the Store Manager is essential to execute merchandising plans and achieve store financial objectives.

Qualifications

To be a SUP/ASM at Sprouts Farmers Market, you must:

• Be pursuing or have obtained a Bachelor’s Degree (targeting May 2025 through May 2026 graduates)
• Have retail experience or project exposure to the retail industry
• Be dependable with a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and varying store assignments
• Have strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to lead in a team environment
• Demonstrate friendly, outgoing behavior with a positive attitude and customer engagement skills
• Be able to manage department staff, including interviewing, hiring, training, development, performance appraisals, scheduling, and coaching
• Show leadership ability to motivate and maintain staff, and be knowledgeable about personnel, margin, weekly sales, and financial goals
• Have strong attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to coordinate promotions and merchandising
• Ensure compliance with product dating and food safety procedures and remove expired items in accordance with Sprouts policies
• Handle emergencies and day-to-day problems, writing incident reports as needed, following company procedures
• Maintain Food Safety certification and comply with all federal, state, and company regulations for labor, health, safety, and sanitation to ensure a safe work environment
• Demonstrate strong organizational and planning skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and to bend, reach, kneel, squat, and stand for long periods
