Network Engineer II

Join our team at the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), where we provide crucial command and control of the Defense Information System Network (DISN) services for the Department of Defense (DoD) and national security organizations. We are currently seeking a skilled Network Engineer to support DISA-provided capabilities and services.

The Network Engineer will be responsible for sustaining, maintaining, and managing problems and changes to ensure the secure and uninterrupted availability of Department of Defense IP networks.

This position requires U.S. citizenship and an active Secret clearance.

**The anticipated salary range is $80,000 to $85,000**

Primary Responsibilities:

• Execute engineering tasks related to the design, implementation, and integration of network systems in a Wide Area Network environment.

• Conduct research and perform analytical tasks to align with customer specifications and project requirements.

• Maintain network systems to ensure at least 99% uptime and connectivity.

• Utilize industry standards for the efficient delivery of contract capabilities and repeatable processes.

• Identify and mitigate risks while effectively managing costs and schedules for large scale projects.

• Perform various analytical tasks including hardware and software design and implementation.

Basic Qualifications:

• BS degree with 2-4 years of relevant experience or a Master’s degree with less than 2 years of experience (equivalent education and/or experience will also be considered).

• Current DoD 8750 certification at IAT Level II, Security+ CE or equivalent qualification.

• Experience with VLAN analysis, routing protocols, IP addressing, and sub-netting.

• Familiarity with Palo Alto firewalls, F5 appliances, and Splunk systems.

• Skilled in troubleshooting and configuring IP networks using routing methods such as BGP, ISIS, OSPF, or Static Routing.

• Experience with service provider or enterprise IP networks, specifically using Cisco (ESR and ASR) and/or Juniper routers.

• Understanding of ports and protocols.

• Must possess an active DoD Secret security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Proficient in both Juniper and Cisco network configurations, troubleshooting, and design.

• Experience with Cisco IOS XR, JUNOS, and Cisco IOS codes.

• Knowledge of scripting languages like Pearl for automation of configurations.

• Expertise in IPSEC configuration, troubleshooting, and design.

• Familiarity with MPLS and IPV6 configuration and troubleshooting.

• Knowledge of DDoS and security vulnerabilities affecting contemporary networks.

• Experience with crypto configurations and troubleshooting.

• Understanding of Layer 2/3 VPN and firewall configurations.

• Experience with physical cable plant and wiring.

• Certifications from major network vendors like Cisco are highly valued.

• Strong project management, technical, and interpersonal skills.

• Extensive experience in network integration for various protocol standards.

• Ability to effectively communicate technical information verbally and in writing.

• Familiarity with DOD regulations and directives is a plus.
