NDE Level III - Eddy Current Specialist (Starship)

NDE Specialist, ET (Starship)

An NDE Operations Specialist position exists within the NDE Operations team. This role will be responsible for owning the training, equipment reliability, new technique rollout, and process improvements for the relevant method. This position will hold expectations for Specialist activities and inspection execution. It is open to all methods and the below listed responsibilities are specific to relevant primary method(s) of the individual. We need individuals who are motivated, collaborators, and at the top of the field within their primary method(s) to be successful in this role.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Inspection Responsibilities (25% of time)
• Perform inspections on Flight and GSE hardware.
• Interpret, evaluate, communicate, and report findings to Production and Engineering.
• Interpret and review engineering drawings as required.
• Continuously improve the safety and reliability of the operations environment.
• Specialist Responsibilities (75% of time)
• Own the improvement and execution of the training program for the relevant method.
• Operate as the first point of contact for technique-based questions from inspectors and engineering.
• Work with Engineering (Design, NDE, and Manufacturing) on process improvements including descopes, inspection reliability evaluation/improvement, and rollout of development projects. This necessitates a strong relationship and collaboration with NDE Engineering.
• Own the equipment reliability strategy and execution for the relevant method.
• Perform technical interviews of NDE Inspector candidates.
• Develop and maintain relationships with key external vendors.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or equivalency certificate
• Level III ASNT/NAS-410 in Eddy Current

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• 5+ years of experience as an NDE Inspector with Eddy Current
• Capable of influencing partner teams and peers to unify to a common vision.
• Competent with computer skills: Warp Applications (Shop Floor, XFiles, and Manufacturing Planning) and Microsoft (Outlook, Excel, Word, and Power Point).
• Knowledge of NASA 5009 standards, AMS, AWS / ASME, ASTM etc.
• Capable of performing root cause analysis on suspect inspection escapes.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be able to lift 25 lbs. unassisted, bend, stretch, stand for extended periods of time, climb stairs, reach, twist.
• Must be willing to work overtime and on weekends if needed.
• Must be willing to travel as needed (10% - 20%).
