In 1901, Henry Ford designed and built the racecar called “Sweepstakes.” On October 10th of that year, he drove Sweepstakes against Alexander Winton, a famous racer and builder. Ford RAcing is looking for an experienced, talented, and highly motivated Electrified Powertrain Systems Engineer to join our Global Motorsports department, located in Allen Park, Michigan. The individual will be responsible for leading the HV Hardware Architecture within Ford Performance’s Electrified Motorsports vehicles.

What you'll do...

  Lead electrified powertrain system architecture, component package, and integration.

  n

• n

  Lead strategy for xEV: Cooling, HV Electrical Distribution System (EDS), eMotor/Inverter, and Driveline.

  n

• n

  Work with HV Battery and Driveline engineers to ensure adequate sizing and compatibility of all components within the electrified system.

  n

• n

  Identify and select partners to source eDrive components, including power electronics.

  n

• n

  Design and analysis of the mechanical driveline after the motor output.

  n

• n

  Create core systems document (P-diagrams, DFMEA, Boundary Diagrams, etc.).

  n

• n

  Interface with key racing partners to offer support related to component sourcing within in electrified series (WRC, Formula 1, etc.)

You'll have...

n
• n

  Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering

  n
n
• n

  2+ years of experience related to electrified vehicle powertrain systems development.

  n
n
• n

  2+ years of experience in HV EDS design (fusing, bussing, contactor selection, creepage/clearance, etc.).

  n
n
• n

  Knowledge of HV EDS testing methods.

  n
n
• n

  Strong communication and organizational skills.

  n
n
• n

  Strong team player, ability to work with multiple suppliers, and willingness to work in a fast-paced environment with high responsibility.

  M.S. in Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering.

  n

• n

  Ford HV Level 2 safety training, or equivalent.

  n

• n

  Experience creating core systems document (P-diagrams, DFMEA, Boundary Diagrams, etc.).

• n

  Working knowledge of eMotor and Inverter operation and testing methods.

  n

• n

  Experience with design or development of mechanical driveline components (gearbox, differential, transmission, etc.).

  n

• n

  Experience with engineering software (MATLAB, 1D Simulation, CAD).

• n

  Possess a competitive spirit, and interest in professional motorsports.

• n

  International and Domestic travel may be required.
