Monitor Tech/Nursing Assistant (SRNA Certified)

Job Title: Monitor Tech/Patient Care Technician (PCT)

Under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse (RN) or other licensed care team member, the PCT/Unit Secretary provides direct and indirect patient care. This role provides excellence in patient care while respecting human dignity and the uniqueness of everyone. In addition, unit secretaries play a vital role in maintaining efficient operations within hospital units by providing administrative support and ensuring effective communication between staff and patients.

Responsibilities include:

• Assisting nursing with cardiac monitoring of patients with cardiac monitoring orders.
• Care and maintenance of cardiac equipment.
• Assisting patients in personal hygiene activities such as bathing, dental and oral care, hair, and nail care.
• Assisting patients with bowel and bladder functions while maintaining dignity. Records patient intake and output (I & O).
• Collecting, labeling, and transporting specimens for laboratory analysis.
• Assisting patients with activity, turning and repositioning as indicated by provider order and in collaboration with the nurse.
• Communicating pertinent patient information/findings to patient's nurse.
• Ensuring positive customer relations interactions.
• Responding promptly to customer needs, both patient and visitor.
• Responding to requests for service and assistance in a positive manner.

Requirements:

• Prefer 1 year Cardiac Monitor Experience
• Current Kentucky Nurse Aide Certification required or successful completion of first year of a Nursing program and validation of a clinical rotation consistent with level of education.
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Basic Life Support (must be obtained within 30 days of hire)
