Mold Maker

As a Mold Maker, you will be responsible for assembling molds and tooling to specifications before they are sent to the customer. Your duties will involve ensuring injector pins fit perfectly, or making necessary adjustments by grinding and polishing equipment. You will play a crucial role in troubleshooting tool problems both conceptually and on the shop floor.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot tool problems in concept and on the shop floor.
• Perform conventional machining such as lathe work, turning, drilling, threading, tool sharpening, surface grinding, welding, drilling, tapping/threading, and polishing.
• Assemble molds by performing spotting, timing, completion of details, and final assembly.
• Execute revisions, repairs, and upgrades to molds or dies.
• Operate all machines and tools necessary to perform mold or die build and repair functions.
• Review prints and programs, and develop processes to complete the job.
• Maintain quality of parts through inspection and communication with fellow teammates.
• Collaborate with designers, programmers, and assemblers to produce or repair necessary components.
• Identify process and equipment problems, and suggest improvements.
• Assist apprentices in upgrading their skill levels.

Essential Skills

• High School Diploma
• 3 years of experience in Mold Making
• 3 years of experience in Manual Machining (lathe, drilling, threading)
• 3 years of experience in tooling assembly and repair (polish, grind)

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in mold making and assembly
• Proficiency in polishing, grinding, mold repair, tool and die work, blueprints, and troubleshooting

Work Environment

The position offers both 1st and 2nd shifts with flexible hours, including occasional Saturdays. It is a warehouse and manufacturing environment that can be loud; however, necessary protective gear is provided. Workers must wear closed-toed shoes at all times. The 2nd shift operates with a smaller team size of about 20 people.

This is a Permanent position based out of Auburn Hills, Michigan.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50000.00 - $66560.00/yr.

Good company benefits starting 30 days after hire date. Medical, dental, vision, 401k.

This is a fully onsite position in Auburn Hills, MI.
