Military Family Life Counselor - Child and Youth Behavioral Support

Leidos is seeking licensed behavioral health professionals to join our Child and Youth Behavioral, Military and Family Life Counselor (MFLC) team.

Support U.S. military service members and their families through important military life adjustments. As a Child and Youth Behavioral Military and Family Life Counselor (CYB-MFLC), you will play an essential role in providing non-medical support, including counseling, consultation, and outreach, to eligible faculty, staff, parents, children, and youth. Your work will focus on preventive counseling to address issues before they escalate.

Military children often face unique emotional challenges due to the demands of military life. This is your opportunity to connect with them when they need support the most.

CYB-MFLC responsibilities include:

• Collaborate at Child Development Centers (CDCs) with children aged 0-5 and in before or after-school care centers for school-aged children with a focus on educational and developmental activities.
• Engage with children and youth, providing coaching and support to staff and parents while modeling effective behavior management techniques.
• Deliver presentations on social skills development and emotional learning critical for early childhood growth.
• Encourage creativity and positivity through appropriate and approved materials.
• Foster relationships with parents and families by attending installation and community events.
• Assist children in transitioning to new environments, such as moving to a new school.
• Participate in regular in-service training and additional contract activities as assigned.
• Communicate trends and issues observed at your assigned location to Team Leads.

Additional job duties may include:

• Responding to urgent situations across various physical locations on a military installation.
• Traversing indoor and outdoor locations, including rugged terrain.
• Traveling to locations outside military bases across different environments.
• Complying with site-specific requirements and regulations on military installations.

Environment:

Your duties will be performed in multiple settings, approximately 60% indoor (within child development centers) and 40% outdoor (which may include uneven terrains and weather exposure). Activities may require interacting with children while sitting on the floor for extended periods.

Licensure Portability:

Exciting news! Recent changes allow licensed Military and Family Life Counselors to provide services to military families regardless of their state of licensure, offering flexibility in your role.

Minimum Requirements:

• A master's degree or higher in the Behavioral Health Professions (MS/MSW/MA/PhD).
• A valid independent license in a mental health field from any U.S. state or territory (LCSW, MHC, MFT, LPCC, Psychologist).
• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Ability to pass a basic background check, including Child National Agency Check and Inquiries (NACI/CNACI) clearance.
