The Child and Youth Behavioral Military and Family Life Counselor (CYB-MFLC) position provides vital non-medical support, including counseling, consultation, and outreach to eligible faculty, staff, parents, children, and youth. This preventive counseling approach aims to address issues before they escalate, ensuring families receive the assistance they require in a timely manner.
In this vital role, you will be instrumental in supporting military children as they face emotional and environmental challenges.
Key Responsibilities:

- Build strong relationships with parents and families by actively participating in community events.
- Assist children in transitioning to new environments, such as a new school or home.
- Engage in regular training and various contract activities as assigned.
- Provide updates regarding trends and issues observed at the assigned installation to Team Leads.
Benefits:
- No insurance claims or progress notes required.
- No treatment plans needed.
- Receive an iPad for easy digital reporting, ensuring no personally identifiable information (PII) or protected health information (PHI) is handled.
- Enjoy paid federal holidays.
- Access free and unlimited training in behavioral healthcare.
- Benefit from reimbursements for job-related license renewal fees.
- Eligible for participation in a 401K retirement plan.
- Receive centralized support from a Counseling Center of Excellence, with access to best practices and state-of-the-art resources.
Additional Responsibilities May Include:
- Responding to emergencies in various locations on a military installation.
- Traversing varied terrains and conditions, including outdoor environments.
- Complying with site-specific requirements to work in military-related locations.
Work Environment:
Your duties will primarily occur in indoor locations (approximately 60%) within child development centers controlled by the Department of Defense, and outdoor spaces (approximately 40%), requiring work under various weather conditions and involving physical activity.
Licensure Portability:
In accordance with the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), licensed Military and Family Life Counselors can provide non-medical services across various U.S. states and territories, regardless of the state in which they are licensed. Eligible licenses include independent and clinical licenses recognized by the Secretary of Defense.
Minimum Requirements:

- U.S. citizenship required.
Applicants must pass a background check and obtain a Child National Agency Check and Inquiries (NACI/CNACI) clearance (Public Trust clearance).
For U.S. Positions: Leidos expects this job requisition will remain open for at least 3 days following the original posting date, July 22, 2025.
