Microbiology Analyst

Microbiology Technician

Our client, the food testing and quality assurance industry, is seeking a Microbiology Technician to join their team. As a Microbiology Technician, you will be part of the laboratory operations supporting microbiological testing for food, dietary supplements, and hemp/CBD products. The ideal candidate will have attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Location: Madison, WI

Pay Range: $21

Shift: Wed-Sat 9:30am-7:30pm 4 10 hour shifts (Mon-Fri 8-4:30 Training for First Month)

What's the Job?

• Prepare and process samples using proper handling procedures and aseptic techniques
• Conduct routine microbiological analyses, including sample dilutions, enrichments, and plating
• Perform quality control checks on laboratory equipment, media, and microorganisms to ensure compliance with standards like ISO 17025 and FDA GMPs
• Enter test data accurately into Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and maintain detailed records
• Maintain a clean and safe laboratory environment, manage consumables and media inventory, and operate autoclaves

What's Needed?

• A high school diploma is required; an Associate's degree is preferred for technician roles, and a Bachelor's degree in microbiology for advanced positions
• 0-2 years of laboratory experience for entry-level roles; more experience or higher education may be required for senior roles
• Proficiency with microbiological testing procedures, media preparation, and general laboratory techniques
• Ability to use LIMS and other relevant laboratory software for data management
• Strong organizational, communication, and attention-to-detail skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team environment
