Mental Health Technician Position

Valle Vista Health System (a UHS facility): Valle Vista Health System is a 132-bed, acute care psychiatric hospital located in Greenwood, IN. Valle Vista Health System features individual units for adolescents and adults, and offers inpatient acute care, and variety of outpatient services at multiple locations. On average, over 10,000 patients receive care from our compassionate health care team each year at Valle Vista Health System. Position Summary: Mental Health Technicians provide direct care and supervision for residents, assure residents are kept safe, learn and practice appropriate hygiene and self-help skills, and are aware of rules and expectations. Act as a role model for residents, demonstrating effective problem solving and decision-making skills. Assist in providing recreational and therapeutic activities for the residents, transporting residents to and from medical appointments, and assuring scheduled programming is carried out. Perform duties as assigned in accordance with the ANA Standards of Practice for Psychiatric Mental Health Care, and facility mission, values, policies, and behavioral standards. Mental Health Technicians report to the Unit Coordinator under the direction of the Chief Nursing Officer.

Job Duties:

• Monitoring and intervening with patients for safety

Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's Degree in Psychology or related field preferred.

Experience: Six months to one year of experience working with a behavioral health in-patient population preferred.

Additional Requirements: Must be at least 21 years of age.

Work Hours: Evenings or Nights (Shift Differential for these shifts)

Units: Adolescent, Adult Psych, Adult Detox and RTC
