WORK SCHEDULE

• 36 hours per week

• Night Shift

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

Harborview's 5 Psych Emergency Services (PES)

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Respond to Code Gray alerts and other crises by securing patients, supporting staff, and following charge nurse directives

• Complete crisis intervention/prevention training and apply techniques as needed

• Assist with patient assessments, discharge planning, and documentation

• Conduct safety checks on patient belongings and visitors to remove hazardous items

• Participate in patient rounds, suicide assessments, and monitor for behavioral changes

• Notify nursing staff of patient distress or changes in demeanor

• Deliver court-related notices and assist patients with legal paperwork

• Support patients through court-mandated treatment processes and advocate for their care

• Provide basic physical care and perform tasks delegated by RNs

• Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment and document care in the electronic medical record

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's degree; AND one year as a Mental Health Specialist I, or equivalent; experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.

• Valid/Active Nursing Assistant Certification (NAC) or Nursing Assistant Registration (NAR) with the state of Washington. Prior to employment.

• Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration
