Medical Technologist Cytogenetics - FISH | Dept of Pathology | Day | Full-Time

Overview
This Molecular Pathology licensed Medical Technologist will perform specialized testing in the area of Cytogenetics in a CAP accredited laboratory. This position will assist with cell culture, pre-treatments, preparing specimens, FISH, DNA/RNA-based assays, and general cytogenetic clinical laboratory tasks. The clinical assessment of human genetic disease in this laboratory involves the use of the most current and approved cytogenetic testing methodologies (e.g., karyotyping, FISH, and microarray testing) to address a variety of clinical needs (e.g., cancer, congenital, and prenatal assessments).
Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Licensed or temporarily licensed as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist in one of the specialty areas to which the position is allocated and for which the laboratory is licensed under Chapter 483, Florida Statutes Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory, biology, or a related field with at least 2 years experience with FISH, cell culture, and/or DNA/RNA based assays. AND Incumbents must be either licensed as a Medical Technologist or can become temporarily licensed in Molecular Pathology under Chapter 483, Part III, Florida Statutes. Ability to work independently, analyze and present data, multitask, and maintain close communication with the Supervisor/Director is preferred. Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
Motor Vehicle Operator Designation:
(Refer to CP 1.51) Employees in this position Will not operate vehicles for an assigned business purpose NOTE: A frequent driver is defined as one who uses his/her personal or UF Health Pathology Laboratories automobile a) at least once daily, b) at least five individual trips per week or c) drives, on average, over 150 miles per week in the performance of his/her job.
Licensure/Certification/Registration:
Must possess either a temporary or current license as a State of Florida Clinical Laboratory Technologist in the specialty(s) required for the job; molecular pathology and/or cytogenetics.
