As a Medical Technologist in our blood bank, you will play a vital role in performing essential patient testing and administrative tasks within the UNC Health Care System.

Shift Details:

This position requires working 10-hour shifts from Thursday to Sunday, 9:30 PM to 7:30 AM, including rotating holidays.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Investigate and resolve issues related to equipment, test results, specimens, and workflow.
2. Participate in teams and special projects/assignments to enhance laboratory practices.
3. Provide teaching for Clinical Laboratory Science students and Pathology residents, as well as training for new employees.
4. Ensure quality control and maintain laboratory equipment according to established standards.
5. Perform a variety of routine and specialized tests, including chemical, microscopic, and bacteriologic procedures.
6. Prepare specimens and reagents as required for various tests.
7. Report results accurately to healthcare providers and engage in discussions regarding test outcomes.
8. Review test results to guarantee their accuracy and promptly correct any detected errors.

Additional Information:

Education:
A Bachelor's of Science degree is required. Candidates must meet eligibility requirements upon hire to sit for the MT exam within 12 months.

Licensure/Certification:
Certification must be obtained within one year of becoming exam eligible.

Professional Experience:
No prior experience is required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
