Medical Lab Scientist

Clinical Laboratory Scientist

Performs clinical testing in at least two of the following departments: Blood Bank Chemistry Hematology or Microbiology. Staff who work second or third shifts must be competent in all areas mentioned above. Receives specimens performs clinical testing understands method principles performs quality controls and instrument maintenance and interprets results as to accuracy acceptability and critical limits.

Education: Associate Degree in Chemical Physical or Biological Science or Medical Laboratory Technology OR Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology Clinical Laboratory Chemical Physical or Biological Science Preferred: Master's Degree in Medical Technology Clinical Laboratory Chemical Physical or Biological Science

Licensure/Certification: Certification as a Medical Lab Scientist or Medical Lab Technician or eligible for certification to be obtained within 12 months of date of hire.

Competencies Knowledge Skills and Abilities: Microbiology experience preferred. Accurate performance and collection of tests while maintaining patient confidentiality. Reasoning ability and good independent judgment. Strong interpersonal and customer service skills. Strong communication skills. Willingness to work different shifts weekends and/or holidays. Ability to work under stress and contribute to the team environment.
