Description

Under direct supervision of the clinic manager and the general supervision of the clinic providers and licensed nursing staff, performs work which requires specific knowledge and training in patient care duties within the Business and Professions Code of the State of California and/or The Joint Commission (TJC) regulations. Duties include scheduling patient appointments and associated patient system screens; accurate billing; environmental care functions; equipment/supply management; and cleaning/disinfecting the environment. Requires knowledge of medical terminology, online scheduling, universal precautions, and proper use of body mechanics. The position requires initiative, the ability to prioritize demands, and the ability to work in a team environment.

Minimum qualifications, nursing-related knowledge, and technical proficiency are essential to perform the described duties.

Minimum Qualifications

• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Certificate of completion of a Medical Assistant training program.
• BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to obtain BART within six (6) months of hire date.
• Two (2) years of Certified Medical Assistant experience.
• Medical terminology certificate and/or training.
• Knowledge of computer operations with IDX, Outlook, Word processing, and Excel skills.
• Ability to be flexible with varying demands in a specialty clinic.
• Teamwork oriented.

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong Infectious Disease practice experience.
• Strong knowledge of insurances.
• Back office Medical Assistant experience in a multi-specialty clinic.
• Experience in an Infectious Disease clinic/practice.
• Experience with older adults, and/or caring for patients with a long-term illness.
• Front and back office experience.

Special Conditions

• Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
• Cross coverage for the Senior Behavioral Health's Outpatient Clinic located in Hillcrest.
• Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Pay Transparency

Annual Full Pay Range: $52,847 - $65,772 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $25.31 - $31.50

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
