JOB SUMMARY
The Mechanical Technician III is responsible for conducting performance and reliability testing on engines, components, and installations within test cells. This role includes engine and component builds, diagnostics, data acquisition, light fabrication, and documentation. The position requires strong technical knowledge of gasoline or diesel engines, problem-solving skills, and the ability to support engineering teams in executing test plans.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct performance and reliability testing on singleand multi-cylinder engines, components, systems, and controls.
Diagnose engine, component, system, control, and test cell issues and implement appropriate resolutions.
Operate and monitor data acquisition systems, review data for accuracy, document findings, and maintain electronic files.
Perform engine and component builds, tear downs, and inspections.
Inspect and measure components using tools such as dial indicators, torque wrenches, and feeler gauges.
Fabricate piping, tubing, and brackets from prints and drawings, including drilling, tapping, and welding tasks as necessary.
Install engines and instrumentation in test cells and rigs.
Execute test plans as assigned by Engineering and Lab staff.
Document time worked on projects and submit weekly reports.

Required Qualifications

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent with 5 years of experience working on gasoline or diesel engines; OR
Graduate of an automotive or diesel trade school; OR
Associateâ€™s degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or related program.
Proficiency with mechanic tools and measuring equipment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated problem-solving ability.
