Mechanical HVAC Designer

A leading MEP firm seeks a Mechanical HVAC Designer to develop and produce HVAC design drawings for MEP projects. This role will create detailed plans for heating, cooling, and ventilation systems, collaborating with engineers and project teams to ensure code-compliant, high-quality designs.

Responsibilities

Prepare HVAC drawings, including ductwork, piping, and equipment layouts, using AutoCAD and Revit.

Perform basic load calculations and assist with equipment selection under engineer guidance.

Develop duct and piping schematics, riser diagrams, and schedules to support project specifications.

Coordinate with electrical, plumbing, and architectural teams to ensure design integration.

Review shop drawings, respond to RFIs, and support construction phase activities.

Ensure designs comply with ASHRAE, IMC, and local building codes.

Qualifications

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Drafting, or related field.

3+ years of experience in HVAC design for MEP projects.

Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit; familiarity with BIM processes preferred.

Knowledge of ASHRAE, IMC, and energy codes; exposure to LEED standards a plus.

Strong attention to detail, communication, and teamwork skills.
