nOverview:
nThe Primary Design Engineer will work with other members of the design team to design and develop complex mechanisms and structural assemblies in the Instrument and Accessories (I&A) group. This role is responsible for concept design and supporting engineering analysis along with providing feedback to drawings, related documentation and design specifications. Work will be focused on developing and leading innovative designs based on user needs and product requirements. Key team cross-functionality include electrical engineering, robotic controls, systems integration, testing, external vendors, and internal manufacturing groups.
nKey Responsibilities:

Design and develop robotic instrumentation including all components and subassemblies.

Perform verification and validation activities.
n -  
Participate in a multi-functional team and contribute to the definition, design, development, implementation and integration of novel surgical instruments.
n -  
Lead the design and development of a sub-system of a surgical device from concept through production.
n -  
Translate high-level customer needs into technical options and analyze the tradeoffs and business impact.
n -  
Design test procedures, coordinate tests, analyze results, and develop written reports.
n -  
Conduct and/or participate in technical design reviews of requirements, specifications, designs, etc.

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, And Experience:
n- n
 -  
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar field with 2+ year of regulated industry experience.
n -  
Solid understanding and experience with mechanism design and utilization of machine elements (gears, pulleys, cables, etc).
n -  
Design For Manufacturing knowledge including component manufacturing methods (injection molding, machining, stamping, etc.).
n -  
Design for assembly knowledge.
n -  
Commercialization and new product introduction.
n -  
Innovative approach to concepting and product development.
n -  
Design tools and methods (CAD, tolerance analysis, FEA, statistical analysis, etc.).
n -  
Highly organized.
n -  
Experience working in cross-functional teams.
n -  
Experience developing requirements.
n -  
Experience with component and subsystem testing.
n -  
Experience giving and taking direction.

Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:
n- n
 -  
Comfortable with & experienced in one or more phases of product development lifecycle including design, implementation, debug, verification & validation, qualification, and transfer to manufacturing.

Experience working within design constraints and concurrently with requirements development.
n -  
Experience working with multi-functional team members (e.g., quality engineers, manufacturing development engineers, external manufacturing, etc.).
n -  
Experience in med device.

The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.
