The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for a combination of manufacturing engineering duties and overseeing production on the off-shift. This role involves collaborating with leaders of manufacturing and production support to review performance on the manufacturing floor. The engineer will facilitate planning, scheduling, setup, and execution of manufacturing activities, ensuring efficient material distribution and labor management to meet daily schedules. This position requires strong leadership skills, automotive manufacturing experience, and availability to support teams during off shifts. The role is hands-on, with 70%-80% of the time spent on the manufacturing floor.

Responsibilities

  Maintain manufacturing production processes by observing process volumes and recommending improvements.

  Enhance manufacturing process workflow by eliminating stoppages and analyzing delays.

  Record manufacturing production by completing daily shift reports and calculating yields.

  Maintain process flow by communicating production status and requirements to the next shift.

  Ensure compliance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) to maintain a positive working relationship with the union.

  Adhere to organizational standards and legal regulations to ensure a safe and healthy manufacturing environment.

  Oversee manufacturing outcomes by selecting, orienting, training, and coaching associates.

Essential Skills

  Engineering Degree or significant leadership experience with engineering responsibilities.

  Minimum of 2 years of engineering experience in an automotive manufacturing environment is highly preferred.

  General understanding of assembly or machining processes.

  Leadership or supervision experience.

  Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with others.

  A preference for hands-on work on the manufacturing floor.

Work Environment

The role involves working on either the 2nd shift (2pm-10pm) or the 3rd shift (10pm-6am), with the possibility of starting 30 minutes early or staying 30 minutes late for shift handoff. The position is part of a team of three engineers within a larger group of 35 individuals, and involves approximately 45 hours of work per week, with occasional increases to 50 hours during busy periods. The role is primarily on the production floor, involving activities such as production support and root cause analysis. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $31.25 - $40.87/hr.
