LVN - Per-Diem (School Setting)

1:1 School LVN

The 1:1 School LVN identifies and treats health disorders among students in the school setting. The 1:1 School LVN provides instruction for the student's general wellbeing and disease prevention. The School LVN monitors the student's physical conditions in the school setting and refers the student to appropriate resources as needed. The work of the School LVN is performed in compliance with his/her LVN scope of practice and according to state education codes.

Minimum Requirements:

• Current LPN/LVN license for the state in which the nurse practices
• Current PPD or Chest X-Ray
• One year prior professional nursing experience in school setting preferred
• Pediatric experience preferred
• Current BLS card
• Considerable knowledge of medical disorders and treatment
• Has previous experience working with diabetic, g-tube and/or seizure prone cases.
• Considerable knowledge of child growth and development
• Some knowledge of public health problems and procedures for treatment in coordination with other health and social service agencies
• Some knowledge of Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations affecting the delivery of school health services
• Understands the school organization and the community served
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Able to work 1 on 1 care
• Responsive and very communicative
