Lumberyard Load Specialist

Job Overview:

The Lumberyard Load Specialist at the Marvin Home Center plays a crucial role in ensuring our customers receive their orders accurately and efficiently. You will be responsible for preparing and loading materials onto delivery vehicles while maintaining a safe and organized lumberyard. This is a dynamic position that requires strong communication skills and a commitment to excellent customer service.

Highlights of your role:

• Loading and Unloading: Accurately pulling and staging materials based on order instructions, efficiently loading trucks, and unloading incoming shipments.
• Material Handling: Using proper techniques to prevent damage while ensuring materials are securely loaded for transport and proficiently operating machinery like forklifts.
• Inventory Management: Familiarity with inventory items, understanding their location, and assisting with incoming shipments to maintain stock levels.
• Customer Service: Guiding customers with loading their materials, addressing questions, and resolving any issues that may arise.
• Safety and Maintenance: Following safety protocols and fire regulations, keeping the workspace clean and organized, and promptly reporting accidents or violations.
• Communication and Teamwork: Collaborating with supervisors and drivers, coordinating effectively with team members, and addressing any operational issues or complaints.

You're a good fit if you have (or if you can):

• Safely and proficiently use various tools, such as chop saws and table saws.
• Lift and carry heavy materials (over 100 lbs).
• Understand different lumber species, grades, and dimensions.
• Knowledge of material handling techniques and forklift operation.
• Possess physical stamina and ability to work in various weather conditions.
• Demonstrate strong communication and customer service skills.
• Follow instructions effectively and work independently.
• Show a willingness to learn and adapt to evolving conditions.
