General Duties

• Implements and coordinates the infection control program.
• Performs all general employee health nursing duties including, but not limited to conducting TB screenings, review of laboratory results, administering immunizations, performing fit testing and pre-employment drug screening.
• Reviews follow-ups on incident reports.
• Participates in the employee evaluation process by providing attendance records and observation of nursing assistants performance to the leadership.
• Puts into place and implements the restorative nursing program in coordination with other department(s).
• Oversees and evaluates performance and documentation provided by the restorative aides.
• Monitors and assures all provisional training for CPR assuring all nurses and CNAs have current CPR certification.

Performance, Regulation and Quality Monitoring

• Interprets and implements established facility policies, procedures and regulations for nursing staff.
• Supervises and evaluates nursing assistant conformance to facility policies procedures and regulations.
• Observes and teaches the facility infection control policies and procedures and safety rules to nursing staff.
• Performs quality assurance test on AED equipment and eye wash stations.

Education Program Responsibility

• Plans, Implements, directs and evaluates the education program in the facility based on identified resident needs, nursing assistant and nurse's needs, other staff need, federal, state and local regulations.
• Plans and provides relevant leaders with an annual schedule of education programs.
• Maintains current education records of classes conducted, attendance and clinical performance of each nursing assistant.
• Prepares lesson plans containing objectives course content, method of instruction and method of evaluation.
• Supervises classroom and clinical activities.
• Manages approved education programs and submit approval forms submitting in writing any program changes.
• Coordinates implementation of the weight committee.

Performs All Functions To Support The Blood Borne Pathogen Exposure, TB Management and Control Program

• Conducts appropriate surveillance and follow up on TB and other exposures.
• Provides Hepatitis B vaccine series injections and PPD skin tests to all employees.
• Monitors all laboratory reports and coordinates appropriate isolation measures as appropriate.
• Tracks and tends UTIs, urinary catheter days, culture repo up on TB and other exposures.

Minimum Qualifications

Licensed to practice practical nursing in Louisiana.

American Heart Association BLS-HCP

3 years Clinical hospital experience, preferred.
