LPN Clinic - Gastroenterology

The Department of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition diagnose and treat patients with digestive problems and conditions. Our specialists use innovative diagnostic tools and treatments such as upper gastrointestinal endoscopy for esophageal, stomach and duodenal disorders, endoscopic ultrasound with fine needle aspiration, ablative techniques for Barrett's esophagus, colonoscopies, and therapeutic interventions for colonic disease. As an LPN, you will assist fellow caregivers in providing exceptional, top-quality care to a diverse patient population. In this role, you can make a lasting difference in the lives of patients, all while enhancing your nursing skills through hands-on experience and numerous educational resources offered within the Cleveland Clinic system.

A caregiver in this position works days from 8:00AM - 5:00PM.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  Provide professional nursing care to patients.

  Administer medication.

  Maintain complete, accurate and up-to-date documentation in medical records and files.

• n

  Complete authorization forms and laboratory requisitions.

  Implement pain management assessments and documentation.

  n

• n

  Adhere to the National Patient Safety Goals as outlined by JCAHO.

• n

  Follow Code Blue protocol.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  Graduate of Accredited LPN program

  n
n
• n

  Florida Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

  n
n
• n

  Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

  n
n
• n

  Knowledge of infection control practices

  n
n
• n

  Experience with technology

  n
n
• n

  Computer literacy

  n
n

Physical Requirements:

  Essential Duties: This position requires knowledge of all aspects of patient care including assessing; planning, coordinating, monitoring and evaluating the patients progress through the entire continuum of car in conjunction with the R.N. or physician.

  Work is heavy, constant lifting and moving patients, carrying equipment, supplies and material up to 50 pounds without help and over 50 pounds with the help of mechanical devices or other personnel.

  You will be stooping, pushing and pulling when moving patient into position for treatment; also you will be reaching, handling, feeling and manipulation of equipment into position.

  Working Conditions: The majority of the time employee spends indoors in air-conditioned areas.

  The potential for exposure to blood and blood borne pathogens is significant.

  Clinical exposure to patients requires the use of personal protective equipment.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  This position is high exposure to infectious wastes such as blood and bodily fluids that mandate the wearing of gloves, masks, gowns, and goggles as appropriate.

  Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
