LPN Ambulatory - School Based Health

Join Cleveland Clinic Children's School-Based Health Program as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) stationed at John F. Kennedy High School, where you'll play a vital role in bringing high-quality care directly to students. Our School-Based Health Centers are nationally recognized for helping eliminate health disparities among children and adolescents by providing primary care, mental health support, health education, and moreright where students learn and grow. On our Mobile Unit, you'll provide services such as well-child checks, sports physicals, immunizations, acute care, contraception, and medication follow-ups for conditions like ADHD and asthma, serving patients ages 418. In this rewarding role, you'll work closely with a diverse pediatric population, make a lasting impact on their health and well-being, and grow your nursing skills with the support and educational resources of the Cleveland Clinic system.

A caregiver in this position will work Monday through Friday from 7:30am to 5:00pm. When school is closed at JFK, caregivers will be floated to other locations within eastern Cuyahoga County.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Collect, document and report patient data and observations.
• Implement care plans as directed by an RN and contribute to care plan revisions.
• Administer medications and/or treatments authorized by a provider and observe patients for adverse reactions.
• Perform routine laboratory tests.
• Educate patients and family members.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Graduate of an approved school of practical nursing
• Current Ohio licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• One year of patient care experience
• Prior pediatric experience

Physical Requirements:

• Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good hand-eye coordination, involves extensive standing walking and occasional lifting.
• Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
• Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours.
• Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or body fluids.
• Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
