Job Description

The Registered Nurse in the Step Down Unit is responsible for providing high-quality care to patients recovering from cardiac and vascular surgeries and interventions. This includes managing post-operative patients, monitoring cardiac telemetry, and coordinating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes. The nurse will care for patients with various cardiac conditions and will be involved in specialized procedures such as cardiac catheterizations and management of ventricular assist devices.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to adults in the Step Down Unit.
• Monitor patients' vital signs and telemetry for any changes or abnormalities.
• Administer medications and manage IV therapy, including blood product administration and central line care.
• Participate in rapid response and code team situations as necessary.
• Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding care plans and rehabilitation.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience, preferably in cardiac care.
• ACLS and BLS certifications required.
• Experience with Epic charting system preferred.
