Local CDL Waste Route Driver

County Transfer & Recycling , a Waste Connections company, is seeking a dedicated and safety-focused Local CDL Garbage Route Driver to join our team!

Typical Schedule: Monday-Friday, with occasional Saturday shifts as needed, totaling 45-50 hours per week.

• One Saturday a month for a 2-hour shift (7am-9am)
• 3:30AM Start time for Front Load Routes
• 6:30AM Start time for Residential and Roll Off Routes

This position includes training on various truck types (Roll Off, Commercial Front Load, and Residential Automatic Side Load). As a driver, you will be responsible for physically collecting solid waste and ensuring excellent customer service at all times.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Safely operate a garbage truck on designated routes to service Residential and Commercial Customers.
• Cross-train on different truck styles, Front Load, Residential Side Load, and Forklift operation.
• Read Route Tablets and service each customer as outlined by the dispatcher.
• Lift, push, and pull 500+ containers using hydraulic hand controls.
• Perform routine inspections and maintenance on vehicles, including checking fluids and safety equipment.
• Perform physically demanding tasks, including loading and unloading, sometimes without assistance.
• Operate hydraulic hand controls to lift/load refuse and dispose of trash at designated locations.
• Engage courteously with customers and perform other job-related duties as needed.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort:

• Extensive physical activity; requires heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling of objects over 50 pounds.
• Exposure to physical risks from moving mechanical parts and outdoor weather, including wet and/or humid conditions.
• Exposure to fumes and vibrations; noise levels are generally moderate.

Minimum Job Requirements:

• Valid CDL with Air Brakes endorsement.
• Clean driving record.
• Pass a Criminal Background Check, Drug Panel Screening, and Motor Vehicle Report.
• Ability to read, write, comprehend, and communicate in English.
• Basic knowledge of truck components for pre- and post-trip inspections.
